Railway Service Classification List, (Staff List), Tasmanian Government Gazette 1903-1977

This series consists of Tasmanian Government Gazette Railway Service Classification Lists (known as Staff Lists). During the early 1900s, they were produced annually on the first of January as an alphabetical listing titled the State “Civil Service List” (B Railways). By the 1920s, they were produced as at the first of July each year. They provided details of the persons employed in the railway service with the information being arranged in position number order within the various Divisions commencing with the General Manager (Position 1). The listings have a publication number which acts solely as a Tasmanian Government Gazette issue number. Most copies are bound in red cloth covers with additional unbound copies being retained also.
