On the 28th day of 1853 The Sir Allan McNab, a newly built metal-sheathed ship of 840 tons left its homeport of Liverpool in England, bound for the Colony of Van Diemen’s Land. On arrival 99 days later on the first of February 1854 at Hobart, a list was compiled of the passengers with notes of where the passengers went, including details such as the hirer, and wage paid. That hiring list forms the basis of this file.
