Index to Tasmanian Government Records and Colonial Newspapers

Digitised version of a handwritten card index to colonial Tasmanian Government records and colonial newspapers compiled by Amelia Lucy Wayn during the period from the 1920s to 1940s. They were then added to by staff employed in the Archives Office in the 1950s. The records indexed include Governor’s Office Despatches and Correspondence of the Colonial Secretary’s Office before 1856. Miss Wayn was employed to arrange and index Tasmanian archival records as part of the Historical Record of Australia project and joint Commonwealth and State funding was obtained for the work. At that time the records were held by the Chief Secretary’s Department, which employed her.
