Copy of Inward and Outward Correspondence, Board of Education, 1849-1851

The contents of this series were transcribed into this volume at some unknown date after 1851. The originals of the inward correspondence (if still extant) would be held by State Records of New South Wales.

The series contains correspondence relating to the establishment of thirteen Victorian schools – Bacchus Marsh, Benalla, Barwon, Bates Ford, Colac, Grange (Hamilton), Kilmore, Pascoe Vale, Wangaratta, Waringall (Heidelberg), Wannon River, Warrnambool and Yuroke. Inward letters to the Board of National Education, NSW were from community members who had established a group of Local Patrons and from the teachers of schools. Outward correspondence consists of the replies from the Board in Sydney.
