Writs of Habeas Corpus are directed at a person who detains another in custody and demands that the custodian produce that person before the Court for a specified purpose. A number of the Writs in this series are to the persons in charge of prisons requiring the production of a prisoner for examination as a witness in cases before the Court whilst others were sought when children had been removed by one parent from the custody of the other parent.
This series consists of the files relating to applications for Writs of Habeas Corpus to the Supreme Court. Files may include a petition for Habeas Corpus, affidavits in support of the application and the Writ of Habeas Corpus.
