Two censuses were taken in Warrnambool in 1850 for the Wants Committee. This was not an official Government census. The listed names were taken from Richard Osborne’s History of Warrnambool published in the 1880s, in which he stated he had sighted the original copy of the census. This census was primarily for the township of Warrnambool and not the surrounding agricultural district.
