The Northcote Cemetery in Separation Street Northcote owes its origins to the original German settlers in Northcote. These settlers were clustered in Separation Street (then known as German Lane). In 1861 four Germans, August Schwaebesch, Albert Fritsche, Moritze Heiner and Edward Hellwig established the cemetery after obtaining the land from Peter Macarthur. The last burial in the cemetery was in 1971. Of the four founding trustees of the cemetery, only Moritze Heiner is actually buried there.
