Marriages South Australia 1836 to 1857

The major sources of these early records were church marriage registers and the index to South Australian marriage certificates. Newspapers of the day supplied additional records. Weddings before civil registration commenced (mid-1842) and others recorded in church marriage registers but not submitted to the Registrar of Births, Deaths & Marriages are included together with the church denomination, placename and full marriage date. Also, the maiden names of previously married women have often been determined.
