Peel Island: Prison or Paradise

Peter Ludlow details life on Peel Island and how it became a home for Moreton Bay’s outcasts. A major concern of any Government is to protect the health of its citizens. Of most concern, perhaps, is an outbreak of a contagious disease amongst its general populace. This publication includes the names of medical staff and some inmates who died on the island. The attached Ships in quarantine at Peel Island 1873 – 1896 also contains names of those who died onboard during this very dark period in our history.
