Toowong Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Brisbane, Queensland. It was opened on 5 Jul 1875 though several burials had already taken place before this – Colonel Samuel Wensley Blackall in 1871 being the first. It also contains several earlier headstones – in 1881 the bodies of three children (of guards of the convict settlement) who died in the 1830s were moved from a North Quay site to Toowong along with the original headstones.
