Braidwood Boys: Braidwood’s Contribution to the Great War

This database lists 481 records of the men and women from Braidwood and the surrounding district who enlisted for service in the First World War. They were either born in the area or were working in the area when they enlisted. Many young men born in the Braidwood area had left the district as the gold mining was disappearing, and they enlisted from other mining towns, such as Kalgoorlie. Today, it is surprising to see the number who listed their occupation as ‘miner’.
