An index to convict burials and deaths for the years 1828-1879, from the Principal Superintendent of Convict’s Office, New South Wales. The index includes deaths at penal outposts such as Moreton Bay and Norfolk Island & Port Philip. If a convict had served his time/was pardoned/was free, his death would not usually be listed in these registers, as he was no longer officially a convict. However, there are deaths recorded for children, wives of convicts, Certificate holders and some seaman, so if the Burial Registers were intended to be convicts only, that procedure was not strictly adhered to.
