Convict Gangs in 1821

The database compiled from the Nominal List of All Persons Victualled from His Majesty’s Magazines under Charge of Deputy Commissary General Wemyss.  This victualling list is in the Colonial Secretary’s Papers, location 4/5781, pages 55 – 122, and is on microfilm at the Archives Office of NSW. The original list was noticeably compiled from a collection of separate lists. Its 68 pages show rations were issued to 4388 men, women and children. There are 3217 surnames. First names are not shown in 266 cases but these are usually the wife and children of someone already listed. Almost three thousand of those listed are convicts.
