Description
The Allport Library + Museum of Fine Arts is a living collection of nationally significant Tasmanian colonial paintings, photographs, rare books, manuscripts, English and European decorative arts and furniture.
The content of the manuscripts collection is generally nineteenth-century Tasmanian, with an emphasis on the Allport family. The collection is largely as it was when bequeathed by Henry Allport to the people of Tasmania in 1966. Relevant manuscripts are infrequently added to the collection.
Materials can be viewed in the State Library History Room upon request. Many items are digitised and may be viewed through the LINC Tasmania catalogue.

Exhibitions are held in the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts gallery space on the ground floor.
Open hours: Mon-Fri 9:30am – 5pm; Sat 9:30am – 2pm. Closed public holidays.
