University of Sydney Archives
Description
The University of Sydney Archives preserves the records of permanent value of the University, its amalgamated institutions, and the personal papers of people and bodies associated with the University.
Additionally, they hold the records of the institutions which have amalgamated with the University, such as:
- Sydney CAE (and some of its predecessors such as Sydney Teachers College)
- Sydney College of the Arts
- Cumberland College of Health Sciences
- the Conservatorium of Music.
Open for research use by staff, students and the public.

They also house a collection of University photographs and publications, as well as a significant collection of personal archives closely associated with the University. These include the records of anthropologists AR Radcliffe Brown, AP Elkin, HIP Hogbin and Camilla Wedgwood – which are listed on the UNESCO Australian Memory of the World register as the Department of Anthropology field research and teaching notes, 1926-1956.
Please complete the conditions of access form before you visit the Archives (this is to be completed annually).
