Stawell Biarri Group for Genealogy Inc. was formed in 1987.
Biarri is an Aboriginal word meaning “to search or hunt”
The Group’s aim is to assist people to find information about their ancestors from Stawell and District and have a collection of family histories and books on the history of Stawell which are available to consult. Their members do undertake research for others for a fee.
The Group is located in the Family History Room at the Stawell library in Sloane St. Stawell.
Members are available to assist with your research on Wednesday Afternoons from 2 pm -4 pm. And on Saturday mornings 10 am until 12 pm.
Records include Pleasant Creek Cemetery, some school and church records and some from the local newspaper.
