Ryde District Historical Society Inc. and Family History Study Group
Description
The mission of the Ryde District Historical Society is to promote and research Ryde’s historical heritage. The Society also encourages and assists with research into family histories.
The Society’s library contains a large collection of local and general history books; CDs, microfilm, microfiches and printouts of historical indices; and genealogy magazines from Australia, England, Ireland and Scotland. Many of these items may be borrowed.
The book collection includes two rare books which are kept under lock and key. They may be read at “Willandra” but they may not be removed from the building.
The Ryde District Historical Society holds a number of resources that can be of value to Family and Local Historians. These include Council files and their collection of Hanging Files that contain resources on a range of local places and people.
