Prince Alfred College Archives, Adelaide

Description

The Prince Alfred College Archives is a significant and valuable collection of tangible cultural heritage, which documents the unique history of school life over more than 150 years. Donated material adds to the College’s rich narrative and ensures that the College’s research and stories are preserved for the benefit of both current and future generations.

The Archives currently comprise 1806 Archival Series records of approximately 1.3 linear kilometres of materials relating to the history of Prince Alfred College. These include collections of photographs, papers, memorabilia, a range of objects, trophies, medals, uniform, School ledgers, scorebooks, College publications and official records of the School.

The Archives is generously supported by the Geyer Fund, which was established through a bequest from the late Mrs Dawn Geyer OAM. Established in 2016, the Dawn Geyer Archives Fund supports the ongoing development of the College Archives and the preservation of historic items.

A closed period of 25 years applies to most records. Access to records not normally available for research can be gained by application in writing to the Headmaster via advice from the College Archivist.

Open Tuesday – Friday by appointment. Closed public holidays.
