Description
Formed in 1987, the Picton and District Historical and Family History Society Inc primarily covers the NSW Wollondilly Shire areas of Bargo, Buxton, Couridjah, Lakesland, Picton, Thirlmere and Tahmoor.
The Society holds an extensive archive of material relative to their local area.
As well as their BDM, Court, Land and Newspaper records, the Society’s holdings include subject files on bridges, buildings, churches, individuals and families, organisations, place names, post office records, property names, railway, and roads. They also hold an extensive photographic collection.
The Society’s Research Room is located in the Susan Keoghan Local Studies Room on the first floor of the Wollondilly Library, 42 Menangle Street Picton NSW and is open each Thursday (except December and January) from 10 am to 3 pm and at other times by appointment.
