The Murray Bridge & District Historical Society has an enthusiastic group of people dedicated to recording & preserving their local history. The society aims to record, preserve and add to the substantial current local history collection for future generations to access; to answer inquiries from persons researching family history, and to save and preserve buildings and artifacts of historical significance.
The Murray Bridge and District Historical Society have been running continuously since the 1980s.
Their collections include historic photographs, maps, documents, copies of the local newspaper, records of local sporting and community groups, 1800-1900 Government Gazettes, and many local council records. They also have a collection of family histories. The Society has a significant quantity of railway documents and memorabilia. They do general and family history research, have published three books, and are working on a fourth.
Open every Tuesday 10 am – 2 pm or by appointment.
