The research centre and library of the Golden Dragon Museum aim to assist, promote and foster interest in the study of Chinese history. Covers Chinese history in Australia, but mainly early Chinese history in Bendigo and surrounding districts.
Records include:
- immigration, cemetery, council rates, family trees, and various research papers
- collection of local history publications
- over 21,000 newspaper articles
covering central Victorian Chinese history from the 1850s to the present.
Research Centre and Library Archive collection: Open by appointment only.
Museum: Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9.30 am-5 pm.
Donations of family histories relating to Chinese history are encouraged.
Due to the age, condition and fragile nature of some items in storage, public access to the archives and collection is strictly limited to individual researchers and representatives from professional institutions, by appointment only.
