Jamieson & District Historical Society Inc.
Description
The Jamieson & District Historical Society Inc. (J&DHS) formed in 1991 and have their headquarters and museum in the Old Jamieson Courthouse.
J&DHS aims to preserve the history of Jamieson and the Upper Goulburn Region, covering the area from Howqua through to Matlock and beyond.
Largely through the generous donations of past and present residents of the district, J&DHS now has an extensive file system containing historical information for many families, old & new, of the district. Photos, documents, stories and artifacts are all catalogued accordingly.
In addition to family histories, they hold historical directories and historical information on schools and cemeteries.
For any research queries please either write, phone or email providing as much information as you can, i.e names, dates, location etc. They will endeavour to get back to you as soon as they can.
Please remember they are a volunteer service so it may take a few days for them to return your initial contact, but they will get back to you!
Costs for research are on a case-by-case basis, but generally a donation to the Society will cover their costs.
