Inglewood Historical Society

Description

The Society (IHS) was formed at a public meeting on 25th May, 1983, with Rev. Fr. Stockdale elected first President, Mr. Arthur Treble, Secretary, and Mrs. E. Lea, Treasurer, and became affiliated with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria.

The IHS is also a member of Western Victoria Association of Historical Societies.

The Society has archival responsibility for:

  • The majority of Rates Books of the Borough of Inglewood are preserved, as is the Borough Seal.
  • Microfilm of the Inglewood Advertiser newspaper covering the years 1861 to 1930
  • Collection of Society books
  • Photographic collections
  • Cemetery Records

Research may be carried out on genealogical details, place history and events.
