Historical Society of Woodville, Adelaide

Description

The Historical Society of Woodville is a voluntary organisation that is committed to discovering, preserving and displaying the evidence of the history of the Woodville community.

The Society encourages and welcomes people to contact them with any information relevant to the history of the Woodville area, including all the suburbs which were previously under Woodville Council.

Their holdings include:

  • City of Woodville: Pound book, 1883-
  • Assessment book, 1872-1978
  • Building plans, 1920s
  • Conveyancing titles, 1900
  • History book of Woodville, 1975
  • West Lakes High School: School records, photos, 1971-1991
  • Charitable Societies: Minute books
  • Various persons: Photographs, 1875-1975

The Society is currently based at the Fisherman’s Wharf Markets, Port Adelaide, where they are exhibiting a display of historical items. The Markets are open every Sunday.
