The Griffith Genealogical & Historical Society was established in 1981.

Although a comparatively small society their members actively enjoy their hobby.

The Society’s library has an extensive range of resources from Australia and Overseas, including FREE access to the internet including Ancestry.com to help members with their family research. These resources are continuously being added to.

Their holdings include an ongoing database of over 41,000 records held by the Society of:

• People • Places • Events • Obituaries • Local Naturalisations

• Land Holders of Farms, Towns & Villages

• Index to Hanwood & Bagtown School Admissions.

(The first school in this district after the advent of the Irrigation Scheme)

• Bagtown Cemetery names.

• Binya Cemetery names.

Library Hours 1.00 to 5.00 pm each Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
