In 1981 a small group of about ten enthusiastic people interested in family history gathered with an aim to form an association, official registration followed and GSNT was born in late November 1981.

The Genealogical Society of the Northern Territory Inc. objectives are to promote genealogical study and family history research; to further the study of genealogy by the collection of historical data; to educate in genealogy and family history methods; to encourage the preservation of personal history records, and to publish appropriate material and operate a reference and research centre.

Non-members may use the Library upon payment of a $20.00 fee (includes GST), per day or part thereof.  If after paying the $20.00 fee the visitor decides to join the Society, then the $10.00 joining fee will be waivered providing an application is made within the same week the visit took place (within 7 days).

LIBRARY HOURS: Monday and Tuesday 9.30 am to 5.15 pm; Saturday 1 pm to 5.30 pm.
