Essendon Historical Society is a non-profit organisation committed to documenting, preserving and promoting the history of the City of Moonee Valley which consists of Airport West, Ascot Vale, Avondale Heights, Essendon, Essendon North, Keilor East, Kensington, Moonee Ponds, Niddrie, Strathmore, Strathmore Heights as well as parts of Keilor and Flemington.

The Society was formed in 1970 by a group of residents who recognised the importance of preserving all aspects of local history for the benefit of present and future generations.

The EHS collection includes photographs, maps and plans of subdivisions. It also holds many items in connection with family histories and the history of local houses, businesses and organisations.

EHS welcomes enquiries relating to historical information about various aspects of the Moonee Valley area.

Fees are applicable for all research enquiries.

Any archival search and retrieval will be undertaken on a fee-for-service basis. The initial research fee is $30 per hour or part thereof. Fees for lengthy detailed research projects will be by negotiation. Fees for Commercial Research are by negotiation with EHS. All photos and photocopies are subject to the EHS Schedule of Charges
