Dunkeld and District Historical Museum

Description

The home of the Dunkeld and District Historical Museum was originally a Presbyterian Church, although it was used for worship by all denominations in the early years. Built in 1865 through the combined effort of William Murdoch and the citizens of the town in the day, the Church has seen a number of uses and modifications over time.

The Museum holds a large collection of Family History records, which are filed alphabetically in easy to access folders. View Index. These folders contain miscellaneous pieces of information, family trees, reports and writings compiled by family relatives and contacts.

The collection also contains birth, death, marriage and other certificates, as well as information on inquests, enquiries and investigations.

Visitors are welcome to use the Museum history resources with little or no help, per hour $15.

Research undertaken on behalf of an enquirer:

  • Basic fee of $30 applies for the first hour or part thereof.
  • Then $15 per half hour thereafter to a maximum of $60.

If more time is needed, the enquirer would be consulted for further instructions and approximate costs involved. If no information is found, no fee is charged.

Open Thursdays 1pm-4pm; Sundays 1pm-5pm; Public Holidays 1pm-5pm. Other days or times by appointment.
