Colac & District Family History Group Inc.
Description
The Colac & District Family History Group Inc. was formed in May 1981. It shares the History Centre in the COPACC building with the Colac & District Historical Society, on the corner of Rae and Gellibrand Streets, Colac
The aim of the group of active and friendly volunteers is to create, collate and maintain a comprehensive database and library for genealogical research in Colac and District.
Access to the database and library is free to members. It is available to the public either by research request or in person for a small fee.
The Group’s unique website feature, Name Search will indicate names listed on their database. If you find the name of an ancestor and wish for more information, please complete the Research Request form and email or post to the Group.
The Colac & District Family History Group has created an extensive collection of genealogical resources about local people. Free access is available to members. They have a team of volunteer research assistants to help members and non-members locate information about ancestors
Non-member visitors are welcome to use the resources assisted by a volunteer for a fee of $10 per hour. If you are unable to visit the History Centre, there is a minimum cost of $30 for C&DFHG research volunteers to do the search for you. Other fees may be charged for copies of photographs, certificate summaries and other photocopying.
