Central Coast Family History Society

Description

The Central Coast Family History Society was formed in 1981 when a small group began to meet over coffee to exchange ideas regarding research into their family histories.

Over time, the need became apparent for the provision of resource material covering matters pertinent to members’ research. As a result, the Society commenced the publication of various guides which have now been replaced by the Handy Solution series.

Equipment available consists of film/fiche readers and printers, including the purchase of the latest in technology, ScanPro2000 and a network of computers with access to Ancestry Institution, Find my Past World Edition and Family Search as an affiliate Library for their members’ use.

Additionally, films distributed by FamilySearch may be viewed at their premises.

The Society works closely with the Local Studies Librarian, Geoffrey Potter at Gosford Library.

The Society has over the past 30 years undertaken the recording and publishing of all cemeteries in their local government area.

Their Publications include the launch at the NSW & ACT Association of Family History Societies Annual Conference in Canberra in September 2013, Lisarow Cemetery – Forget us Not – Unmarked Graves, recording 500 unmarked graves in this historical cemetery.
