The Camden Area Family History Society was established in 1996 as a self-funded non-profit organisation for the benefit of all who are interested in researching their family history within the Camden Area, elsewhere within Australia and Overseas.
The Society’s aim is to promote the local family history and heritage of Camden and its residents and primarily does this through managing the Camden Research Room. Admission to the Research Room is free and is conducted entirely by volunteers.
The Research Room is located in Camden’s historic precinct where it is part of the Camden Library Museum Complex. The Library available to all, and the Society’s archives are open to the public as well as members however there may be a small fee for Non-Members to use the resources ($10 per session) and specific research by their volunteers attracts a $30 fee for up to 15 printed or photocopied pages. Extensive use of the Society’s resources is by negotiation.
Open Thursday-Friday 10 am – 3 pm; Saturdays 9.30 am – 12 noon. The research Rooms are staffed by Volunteers, therefore these opening hours may vary at times, however, the rooms may be opened at other times by prior arrangement for Visitors who cannot attend during these hours.
The Group holds their monthly meetings on the 1st Tuesday of the month, with the exception of January. Meetings are held in the Camden Museum as part of the Camden Library/Museum Complex at 40 John Street Camden commencing at 7.30pm.
